Precision machined mold components with complex CNC features

Precision CNC Machining for Custom Parts

Zecheng provides drawing-based CNC machining for precision mold components and custom metal parts. Depending on the geometry, material, and critical dimensions of each part, CNC machining can be combined with EDM, wire EDM, precision grinding, and dimensional inspection to support the required manufacturing process. We focus on manufacturing parts to customer drawings and functional requirements rather than offering standard off-the-shelf components. This allows the machining process to be planned around the part design, fitting requirements, and dimensions that matter most to the final application.

Machining Capabilities for Precision Parts

Different part geometries and critical features may require more than one machining process. We combine CNC machining with EDM, wire EDM, precision grinding, and dimensional inspection as needed to support drawing-based precision component manufacturing.

CNC Machining

CNC machining equipment in the Zecheng production workshop

CNC machining is used for complex geometries, pockets, holes, profiles, and other precision features based on customer drawings. Machining processes are planned according to the part geometry, material, and critical dimensional requirements.

EDM & Electrode Manufacturing

EDM machining equipment used for precision component manufacturing

EDM supports deep cavities, narrow features, and internal details that may be difficult to produce efficiently by conventional cutting. When required, electrodes are manufactured to match the part geometry and EDM machining requirements.

Wire EDM

Wire EDM equipment for precision profile and contour machining

Wire EDM is used for precision profiles, narrow slots, through-features, and complex contours. It is particularly useful when the drawing requires controlled geometry in hardened or difficult-to-machine materials.

Precision Grinding

Precision grinding equipment in the machining workshop

Precision grinding supports flatness, thickness control, fitting surfaces, and the finishing of critical areas after machining. It can be combined with CNC or EDM processes when a part requires additional dimensional or surface control.

Materials We Commonly Machine

We machine a range of tool and mold steels, high-speed steels, stainless steels, aluminum, and cemented carbide for custom precision parts and mold components. Because material grade designations vary between JIS, AISI, and European standards, commonly used cross-references are shown where helpful. Final material requirements are always based on the customer drawing or specified material standard.

SKD11 / AISI D2 tool and mold steel blocks for precision machining

Tool & Mold Steels

We machine commonly used tool and mold steels for inserts, cores, cavities, tooling components, and other precision parts. Representative grades include JIS SKD11 / AISI D2 / W.-Nr. 1.2379 and JIS SKD61 / AISI H13 / W.-Nr. 1.2344.

SKH51 / AISI M2 high-speed steel round bars for precision machining

High-Speed Steels (HSS)

We machine high-speed steels for wear-resistant tooling and precision components. A commonly used grade is JIS SKH51, commonly cross-referenced as AISI M2 / W.-Nr. 1.3343.

Stainless steel round stock for custom precision machining

Stainless Steel

We machine stainless steel parts according to customer drawings and specified material grades. Machining processes are planned around the part geometry, critical dimensions, surface requirements, and the characteristics of the specified stainless steel.

Aluminum round stock for custom CNC machined parts

Aluminum

We machine aluminum for custom precision parts, fixtures, tooling components, and other drawing-based applications. Machining is planned according to the specified alloy, part geometry, critical dimensions, and surface requirements.

Cemented carbide material for precision tooling and machined components

Cemented Carbide (Tungsten Carbide)

We machine cemented carbide for wear-resistant tooling and precision components where high hardness, dimensional control, and functional fitting are important.

Material Grade Note: Grade cross-references are provided for communication purposes. Final material selection and acceptance follow the grade and standard specified on the customer drawing or purchasing requirements.

Precision and Dimensional Control

Tight-tolerance machining depends on more than a single tolerance value. Part geometry, material, feature size, machining method, and inspection approach all affect how critical dimensions should be controlled.

At Zecheng, critical dimensions are reviewed from the customer drawing and manufacturing process. Depending on the part requirements, CNC machining may be combined with EDM, wire EDM, precision grinding, and dimensional inspection to support fitting surfaces, hole positions, thickness, flatness, profiles, and other function-critical features.

For particularly demanding dimensions, tolerance feasibility should be confirmed against the actual drawing rather than treated as a general capability for every part.

Inspection and Quality Control

Dimensional inspection is selected according to the part geometry, critical features, tolerance requirements, and customer drawings. CMM, optical measurement, and other dimensional inspection methods are used as appropriate to verify the features that matter to part fit and function.

CMM inspection of precision machined parts for dimensional verification

CMM Inspection

CMM inspection is used to verify critical dimensions, feature positions, and geometric relationships on precision machined parts. Measurement is carried out according to the customer drawing and the features that require coordinate-based dimensional verification.

Dimensional verification of a precision part against the customer technical drawing

Drawing-Based Dimensional Verification

Parts are checked against customer drawings and specified requirements, with measurement methods selected according to the feature, tolerance, and functional importance of each dimension.

Optical profile inspection of a precision part using a profile projector

Optical Profile Inspection

A profile projector is used to inspect profiles, edges, feature positions, and other dimensions that are suitable for optical measurement and comparison.
